I’m not even sure that the person we need even exists!   The gap in our current team requires someone who is a multi-faceted, flexible person who is happy to role their sleeves up.  Someone who wants to add value, look for solutions, genuinely help others, take responsibility as well as do really mundane unsexy things like empty the bins.  Broad – right?

To break it down the areas that this role covers are:

Reception/Office management – now here’s where things get a little less exciting.  Whilst being the face and the first point of contact for our clients is one of the most important roles, managing the stationary, ensuring the board room is ready for visitors and emptying the bins may not seem as important.  However, the efficient and effective running of the office, so that we don’t have to think if there is paper in the copier, that there are beverages available for our guests, that we don’t have flies swarming around the left-over lunch remnants in the bin – is absolutely paramount to our legal team being able to do their job.

Accounts/Book-keeping – the majority of our accounts are done by an outsourced resource but if you are our unicorn you would need to oversee the work that this person does.  Have an understanding of the Accounts Receivable and Payable processes, be able to see when invoices need to be followed up or sent out or money moved from trust, you know – like taking an interest in what’s happening in the business.

Sales – not that there are sales targets, nor would you be cold calling, but you would need the ability to take an enquiry, have a conversation on the phone or if they are in the office, send follow up sales literature, put information into a CRM, do sales proposals (from templates), show people the office – not too salesey, more people-skills with a dose of sales.

Operations – provide great administrative support to a team of lawyers, work systems, keep things moving, manage office supplier relationships, set up new team members with our systems – (email, document management, online portal, etc), generally be the wind beneath the wings of our legal team.

The perfect unicorn must love technology as we run 100% cloud based.  If you are organised, process orientated, keen to automate the world, open to learning new things – we need you.

The role would be full time, based in Surry Hills, we are a pet friendly law firm and take 2 weeks off at Christmas!
